NICET requirements by state
Many states tie fire protection licenses to NICET certification (National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies). Most commonly a Level III in Water-Based Systems Layout for the responsible sprinkler designer/manager, or Level II–III in Fire Alarm Systems. Below is every NICET requirement we have verified from official sources.
Quick answer
- 51 verified state requirements mention NICET
- 33 of them reference Level III or higher
- Many states accept a PE license or an approved equivalent instead – check the note for each state
